Turkey receives third Peace Eagle AEW&C aircraft
The Turkish armed forces have taken delivery of the third Peace Eagle Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft from Boeing. The aircraft was delivered on schedule on 4 September.
This is the third of four Peace Eagle aircraft Boeing is contracted to deliver to Turkey as part of a programme that will enhance the country’s self-defence capabilities. Deliveries of the first two aircraft took place in January and May, with the last scheduled for 2015.
The aircraft will be based at Konya Air Base and will be used to provide advanced airborne surveillance and battle management capabilities and the tracking of airborne and maritime targets.
In addition to the four aircraft, Boeing will also provide the ground support segments for mission crew training, mission support and system maintenance.
