Australia looks towards space with force restructure, investment and training
Australia is looking to improve its presence in space with a focus on communications and creating a dedicated segment of its defence forces committed to the domain.
Terma has released a re-engineered and upgraded version of its Advanced Countermeasures Dispenser System (ACMDS), it announced on 29 April.
Some of the features of ACMDS include mixed payload capability; electronic expendable communication interface for support of both multi-shot cartridges and expendable active decoys; and platform-adaptable, hardware-controlled safety features.
The system coordinates, integrates, and operates expendable countermeasure payloads on large-body, transport and fixed-wing aircraft as well as helicopters.
The new ACMDS is form-fit compatible with third-party and legacy Terma dispenser systems. The suite includes an application for field/in-country organic mission data generation and post-flight analysis and a suite of ground support equipment.
Terma’s AN/ALQ-213 EW Management Unit or Defensive Aids Controller controls the dispenser suite, which offers full EW/ASE Suite control; built-in training capability; automatic decision support for the pilot in a threat environment; and a reprogramming interface.
