SOFIC 2012: Thales announces development of MBITR 2
Thales has disclosed that is developing a second generation two-channel variant of its Multiband Inter/Intra team Radio (MBITR) expected to be released 'early next year'.
The MBITR 2 stems from the original variant that was developed in the late 1990s for US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and the JTRS-enhanced MBITR (JEM) was based on the PRC-148 and adapted for special operations.
'It [the MBITR 2] is going to be released early next year and will be a two channel radio that supports all legacy narrowband waveforms as well as a wide band waveform,' Travis Queen, director of business development for USSOCOM and USAF for Thales
