Singapore inducts artillery C2 system
The Singapore Army has quietly introduced an artillery C2 system that digitises target acquisition and the calling of artillery fires.
The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) revealed the new technology on its social media site in early December, but Shephard understands the system was inducted into the new mobile HIMARS battery command post sometime in the second half of 2018.
DSTA said artillery spotters can mark targets automatically on a C2 map, and these are linked digitally to handheld sensors. The agency also said that, with other enhancements made to the computerised process of calling for fires, the time
