Australia is looking to improve its presence in space with a focus on communications and creating a dedicated segment of its defence forces committed to the domain.
Thales is expected to begin first tests of the new Satmove Ka satellite terminals with the French government at the end of the year or early in 2017.
The Satmove Ka on-the-move terminals were launched at the Eurosatory exhibition earlier this year.
A spokesperson from Thales told Shephard that full system performance tests will be performed in the first half of 2017. These will test live satellite communications services onboard a vehicle in off-road conditions.
