Russia shows off new 'anti-stealth' digital radar
Russian industry has unveiled a new 2D VHF radar that combines long-range detection with high mobility and digital signal processing to significantly improve resolution and jamming resistance.
The P-18-2 - an evolution of the Soviet P-18 (NATO reporting name 'Spoon Rest') - was unveiled to the public for the first time at the Army-2018 defence exhibition held in Kubinka near Moscow last week.
According to the developer, Nizhny Novgorod-based NITEL company, the new radar is being positioned as a successor to the P-18, a system commonly used by the Russian Air and Space Force and many foreign customers.
