Qatar orders Kronos radar network
Qatar armed forces have ordered a network of Kronos radars and command and control (C2) centres from Selex, the company announced on 26 July.
Selex will supply the air surveillance and defence system to Qatar under a contract signed in Doha in the presence of representatives of Selex, Qatar armed forces and Italian Ministry of Defence.
The company was selected after a competitive selection process, and the contract includes ground-based radars in mobile and fixed configurations as well as C2 centres.
Mauro Moretti, CEO, Finmeccanica, said: 'We are deeply proud of this success. Air defence and surveillance systems are fundamental for a nation and Qatar has selected Finmeccanica to provide this strategic asset. The trust that has been placed on us will drive an even stronger commitment from Finmeccanica in this strategic region.'
