OSI Maritime Systems announces ECPINS-W contracts
OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) has announced contracts to deliver warship navigation systems to the US Navy and Irish Naval Service, with both agreements including the company’s Electronic Chart Precise Integrated Navigation System – Warship (ECPINS-W) software.
For the US Navy, OSI will provide ECPINS-W software to the service’s Ship-to-Shore Connector Landing Craft (SSC) programme. The contract includes engineering services and ECPINS-W software that will be integrated into the SSC Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Navigation system. The US Navy plans to build 73 Landing Craft under the SSC programme.
The company will also supply warship navigation systems, including ECPINS-W software, to the Irish Naval Service. The contract will see the company provide engineering services, ship systems, operator training systems, and installation services across the entire naval service fleet.
ECPINS-W has been developed to simplify the navigation system design. While other designs use distinctly separate marine and land navigation systems, requiring the operator to manually transition from one system to another, the display capability of ECPINS-W supports more than 30 chart and map formats and brings together marine and terrestrial navigation into one system. This capability removes the need for additional software and hardware systems, resulting in operational efficiencies by allowing for the seamless shift in navigation regimes without the need for operator actions.
