Model 527 radar signal simulator for KC-46
Textron Systems Electronic Systems’ Model 527 has been selected as the Radar Signal Simulator for the KC-46 aircraft, Textron announced on 30 November.
The Model 527 is designed for end-of-runway and walk-around preflight testing, to determine the operational status of installed electronic warfare (EW) radar warning receiver (RWR) systems. Operational readiness and threat recognition are verified across antennas, radomes, transmission lines, cockpit displays and controls.
The advanced threat modelling software supports various threat simulations including simple, continuous-wave, pulsed single emitters, and multiplexed radio frequency emitters modelling several threats simultaneously. After the installation of the threat profiles in the test set, personnel can progress through them on the flight line with a thumb switch, verifying aircraft operation.
Steve Mensh, senior vice president and general manager, Textron, said: ‘We offer a proven system that can be used across multiple advanced platforms. The Model 527’s power enables testing at stand-off range for large aircraft. The product’s capability and ease of use is why our customer base continues to expand.’
