Inmarsat unveiled the new Low Profile Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) terminal in London on 5 November.
‘We are in the final testing phase, the testing process has lasted around 12 months and currently we have 25 of the units with the end customer,’ Peter Dingley, VP Offer Development at Inmarsat Global Government, told Shephard.
The unit consists of a lay-flat antenna and a robust, remotely-operable BGAN terminal which will work even when buried under sand. The solution allows unmanned, concealed surveillance in real-time.
‘The key design feature is that the BGAN is able to lay flat and be buried
