Harris offers all-digital GPS satellite payloads

Harris is gearing up to offer its fully digital navigation payloads for future US Air Force GPS satellites.

This follows a Request for Proposal (RFP) in January from the US Space and Missions Systems Centre released (SMSC).

The RFP calls for navigation payloads for its newer GPS satellites numbering 11 and onwards. Harris hopes to secure the contract to provide this equipment as its offering is different to the existing navigation payloads for current satellite space vehicles (SV), which are 70% digital.

SMSC intends to award the contract for SV11+ in the third quarter of 2016. SMSC is anticipating a period of performance of 26
