Chemring Countermeasures USA has received two contracts totalling approximately $42 million for the manufacture and delivery of decoys for the US Army and Air Force, Chemring Group announced on 2 July.
The first contract is worth $32 million and has been awarded under Chemring’s current five-year IDIQ contract with the US Army. Under the contract, Chemring will manufacture and deliver M206 and MJU-7A/B infrared decoys for the army and air force. Work under this contract will take place between 2018 and 2019.
The second contract, valued at $10 million, comes under the company's $29 million IDIQ signed in August 2017. The contract will see company manufacture and deliver MJU-66 special material decoys for the air force. Deliveries under this contract will be made in 2019.
Michael Ord, group chief executive of Chemring, said: ‘These contracts demonstrate the continued confidence of the US Army and Air Force in Chemring’s ability to develop and supply quality aircraft countermeasures and it reinforces the group’s decision to invest in the transformation project at our Tennessee facility.’
