Blighter B400 radars for Middle East air base
Blighter Surveillance Systems' B400 Series PESA e-scan Doppler radars have been selected for installation at a strategic Middle East air base, the company announced on 20 February.
The contract was awarded by Unlimited Technology for an undisclosed amount.
The B400 Series radar will be part of an integrated perimeter security system at the air base that will include a long range illuminated camera system for day/night operation.
Blighter will also provide its BlighterTrack multi hypothesis software-based radar target tracker and BlighterView HMI 2 control system to display the radars and to cue the camera systems, in a configuration called Blighter Guardian. A sensor node by Unlimited Technology will integrate this sensor suite and control electronics into a plug-and-play package for the customer.
Mark Radford, CEO, Blighter Surveillance Systems, said: 'Our solid state PESA electronic scanning radar technology has no mechanical moving parts to wear out or to get contaminated by sand or dust and therefore it's ideal for the dusty and arid conditions found in the Middle East. Importantly, our radar is also visually covert and virtually maintenance free.'
Blighter Guardian is designed for securing airbase perimeters and forward operation bases, and it detects small and slow moving targets due to the radar's coactive frequency modulated continuous wave Doppler fast-scan processing. The radar can detect a walking person at 11km or a large moving vehicle at 25km and then cue the camera system to follow and identify targets.
