Australian ISREW aircraft confirmed

Australia has confirmed it is acquiring two Gulfstream G550 business jets for conversion into intelligence-gathering and electronic warfare platforms.

Responding to queries from Shephard, an Australian Department of Defence (DoD) spokesperson said: ‘The aircraft will be modified to provide an airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and electronic warfare (ISREW) capability to support Australian Defence Force operations for Australia.’

A 28 December news release issued by the US DoD stated the USAF had awarded a $93.6 million Foreign Military Sales (FMS) contract to L-3 Communications Mission Integration for procurement and maintenance of the aircraft.
