US Army eyeing FY18 modernisation funding boost
If US Army leaders get their way, service modernisation coffers will see an infusion of fiscal year 2018 dollars in the near future.
Earlier this month, lawmakers struck a budget deal that would fund the DoD in FY18 at $670 billion — $25 billion more than the Pentagon’s requested budget.
Although Congress is still hashing out the details and an appropriations bill hasn’t been signed into law, Pentagon leaders are preparing for the additional funds.
For the US Army, this may mean an additional $6.5 billion, according to Lt Gen Thomas Horlander, the military deputy to the assistant secretary
