UK government warned over arms exports
Concerns have been raised over the UK government’s handling of international arms exports, in a report published on 23 July for the House of Commons.
The joint-committee report scrutinises UK arms exports and controls, specifically highlighting the need for transparency, consistency and morality when dealing with potentially unstable or oppressive foreign regimes and governments.
To this end, the display and promotion of ‘Category A goods’ at international exhibitions, which could be used for torture, should be more effectively and clearly prohibited by law, stated the report. It added that the government failed to ensure this at the biennial Defence and
