UES receives US Air Force FLAPS contract
UES has received a $41.9 million six-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract under the US Air Force’s Flash and Laser Airborne Protection Systems (FLAPS) research programme, the company announced on 10 August.
The FLAPS programme intends to develop materials and processing methodologies to conduct exploratory and advanced research and development of technologies to control, manipulate and protect against photonic energy.
A team from UES will work with the Air Force Research Laboratory to increase aircrew survivability to flash-blindness and directed energy threats through innovative research and development solutions and to advance the current photonic materials technologies, interactions and applications.
