Milipol Asia 2019: Security, counterterror markets expand in ASEAN region (video)
The homeland security and counterterrorism market is transitioning from the US towards Europe and Asia-Pacific. In addition to terrorism and organised crime, cybercrime and UAVs are also posing new threats to the security situation in Asia-Pacific.
Police forces in ASEAN need to update their capabilities to counteract these rising and existing threats. Singapore provided a 2018 policing budget of $4.9 billion, while Malaysia’s amounted to $2.33 billion. However, it remains crucial for the region to tighten networks and provide greater security against threats.
