Russia starts production of a new-generation strategic bomber
The first production works on the Russian PAK-DA new-generation strategic bomber programme are set to be given a go-ahead this year.
According to the Russian military news agency Interfax-AVN, Moscow-based aircraft maker Tupolev has completed a set of design drawings of the new bomber, handed over to its subsidiary Kaz Gorbunov plant in Kazan, which will begin the production of parts for the first prototype aircraft in the coming months.
The full-scale design works on the new-generation strategic bomber developed under the PAK-DA initiative were launched by Tupolev in 2013, on order placed by the Russian MoD.
