The COVID-19 pandemic is a phenomenon that is actively changing politics, economics and society on a global scale.
Russia is not yet among the worst-affected countries, but current trends indicate that a steep rise in cases is very likely in the near future despite the measures taken to date.
It is clear that Russia is not yet at the peak of its infection rate. By 16 April (the fifth consecutive day with a record increase), there were 27,938 reported cases of coronavirus in the country and 232 deaths.
