US risks further erosion of global influence with confused strategy
Amid the fallout from the global COVID-19 pandemic, as nations try to chart a way out of the crisis and focus on recovery, there has been a notable increase in tension between China and the US. With the global economy struggling to restart, both nations seem increasingly bellicose in their attitudes towards each other.
The Trump Administration seems determined to pin the blame for the current crisis on China, and also to use this as an opportunity to both restrict Chinese growth and reassert American military dominance in the Asia-Pacific region.
