UK Prime Minister David Cameron has announced a £1.1 billion investment injection to counter emerging threats to national security such as cyber terrorism.

Addressing the media at the Farnborough International Airshow on 14 July, Cameron said the sum would include £800 million for intelligence and surveillance with a further £300 million on upgrading existing platforms such as the Typhoon jet which will receive a next-generation radar.

United Kingdom Special Forces (UKSF) are expected to be one of the prime beneficiaries of the increased spend, which will be funded using savings gleaned from the last four years of defence cuts.
