Dutch MoD welcomes extra budget
The Dutch MoD has reversed a series of austerity measures after negotiations within the government led to the release of an additional €115 million into the defence budget.
The decision means the sale of the Karel Doorman Joint Support Ship (JSS) will not go ahead and plans to dissolve the 45th Mechanised Infantry Battalion will also be reversed, according to a statement of the Dutch MoD released on 25 October.
The JSS was originally designed to carry out transport of heavy weapon systems, provide support for land based operations with Chinook helicopters as well as resupply taskings. After phasing out
