Paris Air Show 2013: AgustaWestland’s Project Zero makes debut in Paris

AgustaWestland has displayed its ‘Project Zero’ all-electric tiltrotor technology demonstrator for the first time at the Paris Air Show. 

James Wang, AgustaWestland’s vice president of research and technology, said on 19 June that the tiltrotor, which is all-electric with no transmission, no swashplate, and individual blade control, had already flown several times.  

Wang could not reveal any exact data on endurance results but conceded that the vehicle had not flown longer than five minutes to date. The demonstrator had yet to transition into forward flight, although this had been achieved using a one third scale model.
