Boeing awarded Indonesian AH-64E Apache contract
Boeing has been awarded a contract to manufacture eight AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for Indonesia, according to a US DoD announcement on 26 January.
This firm-fixed-price contract valued at $295.9 million constitutes a foreign military sale (FMS) to Jakarta.
The Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) chief of staff has already announced four Apaches will deploy to the Natuna Islands, off Borneo’s coast at the southern end of the South China Sea.
These Indonesian-controlled islands sit on the maritime boundary with Brunei, Malaysia and Vietnam. China’s vague nine-dash-line territorial claim overlaps Indonesia’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the region, and Jakarta is concerned
