IAI completes M-19HD test flights
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has completed all airborne test-flights on manned and unmanned platforms utilising its new M-19HD payload, the company announced on 11 February.
The M-19HD is a high-definition, compact, multispectral, multi-sensor, single line-replacement unit (LRU) payload that can incorporate up to 7 sensors simultaneously. It enables continuous day/night surveillance irrespective of the weather conditions. Further, it also provides enhanced acquisition ranges owing to its high stabilisation, powerful sensors and unique image processing capabilities.
The system's multi-mode automatic video tracker is designed to improve situational awareness and reduce the operator workload, while also providing accurate geo-location using its embedded inertial measurement unit/global positioning system.
The M-19HD has been developed to be installed onboard advanced unmanned aerial platforms such as IAI's Heron-1 and Heron TP UAVs, as well as aerostats and manned platforms able to perform strategic missions.
According to IAI, both international and the local customers have expressed interest in the electro-optical payload, and advanced negotiations are underway.
Shlomo Gold, acting general manager, Tamam division, IAI said: 'The M-19HD payload is the ideal system for long-endurance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions and area dominance.'
