Varjo mixes it up
Finnish company Varjo, a provider of industrial-grade VR/extended-reality (XR) headsets, has introduced real-time chroma keying and object tracking for its XR-1 Developer Edition headset.
Chroma keying allows developers to manipulate and layer images or video streams together. Typically, this is seen during ‘green-screening’ in broadcasting where, for example, an individual or object appears with a video or virtual background.
Varjo claims to be ‘the first company to deliver chroma keying in real time for mixed-reality devices’.This allows the integration of virtual and real-world content, so users can interact with photo-realistic virtual elements as they would in real life.
