UK trials platoon collective VR - again

Following last year’s VR in Land Training (VRLT) trials, conducted by the British Army between January and May in conjunction with BISim, the UK MoD is about to embark on another such trial with SimCentric.

The new tests will use the Epic Games Unreal Engine 4 and will be conducted via the government's Defence and Science Technology Laboratory (Dstl).

According to the MoD, ‘the new platform (known as SAF-TAC) will use the latest advances in gaming innovation to improve training for personnel making it more realistic, intuitive and immersive, while lowering the costs’.

The £300,000 ($387,000) contract to develop
