Turkish Navy to receive diver training vessels in 2020
Istanbul-based Desan Shipyard launched two Emergency Response and Diving Training Boat for the Turkish Navy in early December. The vessels are aptly named as TCG Dalgıç-1 and TCG Dalgıç-2, with Dalgıç translating to ‘diver’ in Turkish.
According to information shared by Desan Shipyard and Presidency of Defence Industries, the vessels are 35.7m long and 8m wide. Displacing 260t, they will be propelled by two diesel engines each with 1000kW of power, providing a cruise speed of 12kt.
Embarked will be a six-strong crew with space for an additional 15 divers or trainees.
