USN picks two for TIPS sustainment
Electronic components manufacturer DRS Laurel Technologies and technical services provider VT Milcom have each received contracts from the USN to sustain equipment provided under the Technology Insertion Program for Savings (TIPS).
Under deals worth up to $211.59 million for DRS and a maximum $188.43 million for VT Milcom, both companies will manufacture, assemble and test equipment spares; install ordinance alteration kits and related products; and provide associated engineering services.
Work is expected to be completed by December 2025.
TIPS transitions applicable COTS solutions and late-stage development technologies into USN acquisition programmes, in order to significantly reduce operations and maintenance support costs.
