Cohort Group company SEA has been awarded a contract by the UK MoD to manage and update in-service sonar equipment.
The contract is worth £25 million ($34.86 million) over the next ten years and was won through competitive tender.
SEA will leverage its sonar equipment and systems capabilities to expand its anti-submarine warfare solutions through the design and development of the MoD’s next-generation sonar equipment.
The company successfully delivered this service as part of a previous contract. It will continue to maintain a range of the UK RN’s existing sonars and deliver the equipment on an availability basis to ensure consistent operational readiness.
SEA offers a range of sensor products including the Krait Defence System, acoustic transducers, the ES800 echo sounder and KraitArray.
Richard Flitton, managing director at SEA commented: ‘The development of next-generation sonars for the UK Navy enhances our position as an innovator and leader in sonar technology.'
