Philippines reshuffles naval fleet plans, as projects lag

The Philippine Navy (PN) recently released a graphic showing the desired force mix for its future fleet. It features various refinements as the PN attempts to blend ambition with what is fiscally feasible, even as various programmes fall behind schedule.
This naval operating concept was submitted to the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines last year.
The desired PN fleet comprises the following: six frigates for anti-air warfare; 12 corvettes for anti-submarine warfare; 18 OPVs for EEZ protection; four strategic sealift vessels; three logistics support ships; 40 patrol gunboats for coastal patrol; three submarines; three mine countermeasure
