Fincantieri and Ferretti Group announced a cooperation agreement on 20 Feb at the IDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi with both parties set to explore new opportunities in the defence sector.

Present at the NAVDEX section of IDEX is Ferretti Group's FSD 195 displaying a Hitrole remote weapon system with a 12.7mm machine gun and a Janus day/night surveillance and target designation system.

The vessel can also fit Marte Mk2 missile launchers on the stern of the cockpit and Rheinmetall armouring kits on the boundaries of the operating areas. The FSD 195 is also showcasing a dual band satellite communications system.

According to statements released by both companies the cooperation agreement will see collaboration on work at both the national and international level, civil as well as military.

Speaking with Shephard after the announcement Alberto Galassi, Ferretti Group's CEO, said that together with Fincantieri they 'completely fill the portfolio of available vessels for combat patrol in the world for any requirement'.
