Royal Navy’s mine hunter vessel HMS Cattistock has sailed from Portsmouth to join the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) as part of a three month deployment to the Baltic Sea.
SNMCMG1 is the UK’s maritime commitment to NATO operations. The Standing NATO Maritime Groups are a multinational, integrated maritime force made up of vessels from various allied countries. The vessels are permanently available to NATO to perform different tasks ranging from participating in exercises to intervening in operational missions.
Cattistock will take part in a number of multinational exercises and operations alongside NATO partners, including force integration training and historical ordnance disposal.
