Insight: China assigns coast guard under military command
As part of a major restructuring of government ministries initiated at this month’s 13th National People’s Congress, China has moved command of the China Coast Guard (CCG) to the People’s Armed Police (PAP), according to a 21 March announcement. Previously the CCG served under the aegis of the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), a civil agency.
