US Army orders 105mm training ammunition

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GDOTS) is providing the US Army with M724A2 Target Practice Discarding Sabot – Tracer 105mm training ammunition, the DoD announced on 26 May.
‘Bids were solicited via the internet with two received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order,’ the DoD noted.
Work on the $49.31 million contract from US Army Contracting Command is scheduled for completion in May 2026.
The M724A2 is used for gunnery training in tank-mounted 105mm guns. A complete round is 838mm long and weighs 14.5kg. GDOTS describes a maximum range of 16,739m.
