UK MoD awards WFEL first contract for Boxer programme
The UK MoD awarded WFEL the first official sub-contract for the production of 500 Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicles, according to a 16 July announcement.
WFEL is a member of the ARTEC consortium, which is a Tier One supplier in the project. The agreement covers the transfer of manufacturing technology from Germany to the UK for the drive modules for the Boxer Infantry Carrier, Special Carrier and Ambulance variants.
This vehicle will form an integral part of the British Army’s new Strike Brigade capabilities and is expected to have a service life of over 30 years.
