Thailand to adopt DTI-2 rocket launcher
The latest unguided 122mm DTI-2 multiple-rocket launch (MRL) system installed on a tracked Type 85 chassis will be delivered to the Royal Thai Army (RTA) in 2017. It will replace 130mm launchers that have been in service since 1988.
The DTI-2 rocket was developed independently by the Defence Technology Institute (DTI). The rocket is 2.43m long and weighs 65kg.
The composite solid-propellant rocket with high explosive or smoke warheads have a range of up to 40km, with a firing rate of one round per second. The fire control unit integrates GPS.
DTI designed a new 20-tube launcher for the DTI-2.
