Spanish Army and Marine Corps test Expal onboard mortar systems
The Spanish Army and Marine Corps tested Expal’s Dual-EIMOS and EIMOS 2018 onboard mortar systems at the Retín Training Field in Cádiz. Dual-EIMOS was developed following the requirements of the Navy’s General Staff.
The Spanish Army and Marine Corps tested two onboard mortar systems on light vehicle manufactured by the national company Expal Systems. The demonstration with the new Dual-EIMOS and the EIMOS 2018 version took place on 03 March at the Retín Training Field in Cádiz.
During the test, a Marine Infantry crew fired the Dual-EIMOS, and components of the army’s Legion Brigade operated the EIMOS 2018.
Dual-EIMOS was developed from EIMOS 2018 following requirements of the Navy’s General Staff and was manufactured within the framework of an R&D programme with the Spanish MoD’s Under-Directorate for Planning, Technology and Innovation (SDG PLATIN).
According to a press release of Expal, the new system features improvements in terms of versatility and precision while maintains the operational advantages of EIMOS 2018, such as manoeuvrability and 360º shooting without the need for additional supports and even in motion. It also can be integrated with the TALOS C2 system from the previous version.
