Russia reveals all-new 120mm self-propelled gun
The 120-mm 2S42 Lotos self-propelled gun (SPG) for Russia’s elite Airborne Troops branch was shown to the public for the first time at Army-2019 defence exhibition near Moscow.
The Airborne Troops branch has been reformed in recent years as a highly-mobile and hard-hitting rapid-reaction force, with a priority in deliveries of new armament systems. In addition to the Lotos, the branch is also set to receive the 82-mm Drok mobile mortar using the K4386 Taifun-VDV 4x4.
