Russia plans 70% land modernisation by 2020
Russia intends to buy more than 5,000 new combat vehicles and will upgrade 6,000 vehicles as part of a programme to modernize its forces.
Oleg Salyukov, Colonel General and Chief of Russia’s Land Forces has stated that he wants 70% of Russian land forces to be equipped with modern weapons by 2020.
According to Salyukov about 14,000 combat cars will also be procured over the next six years.
As part of these plans, the Russian land forces will receive T-72B3 tanks, which were trialled during the East 2014 military exercises, BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, BMP-3 armored infantry fighting vehicles and
