Russia boosts Iskander-M inventory
The Russian Navy has strengthened its tactical ballistic missile (TBM) inventory by adding its first brigade equipped with the new 9K720 Iskander-M (NATO SS-26 Stone) system.
The official ceremony for fielding the system was reported on 22 November at the Kapustin Yar missile range in the southern part of Russia.
It is the first delivery of the system to a Russian Navy Coastal Forces unit, the 152nd Guards Missile Brigade, based in Cherniakhovsk in the Kaliningrad enclave on the Baltic Sea coast. This unit was previously equipped with the obsolete 9K791 Tochka-U (SS-21 Scarab-B) TBM system.
