Romanian MND acquires Romarm grenades
The Romanian Ministry of National Defence (MND) is acquiring multifunctional hand grenades and 40x47mm explosive grenades manufactured by national company Romarm. The award of the two contracts was published on 23 October on the EU tenders website.
In total, the MND will invest RON 26.2 million ($6.5 million). The multifunctional hand grenades will cost RON 17.6 million ($4.5 million), and the explosive grenades RON 8.6 million ($2 million)
Both agreements did not specify the number of units to be procured. The deal to purchase the explosive grenades stated that they will be fired by 40mm launchers attached to 7.62mm machine guns.
In these two tenders, Romarm was the sole bidder. The company was established in 2000 and is among the main producers of military products in Romania.
