Rheinmetall expects recovery of defence sales in 2014
Rheinmetall has reported a lower group operating profit for 2013 compared to 2012 as defence sales have been affected by a challenging budget environment.
Operating profit decreased from €268 million in 2012 to €213 million in 2013. A year-on-year decline of 8% to €2.2 billion was recorded for defence revenues. While the defence operating profit, totalling €60 million, was €25 million lower than in the previous year, it was in line with expectations.
In addition, restructuring measures expensed at €86 million have adversely affected the group result.
