Hanwha declares large UGV a success

The Agency for Defense Development in South Korea announced on 22 April that a 6x6 Unmanned Surveillance Vehicle (USV) suitable for mechanised units has now entered its systems development phase.
Hanwha Defense, the vehicle manufacturer and lead systems integrator for this Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) project, said the vehicle ‘successfully met key operational requirements sufficiently to be deployed in the military’.
Indeed, in March it achieved Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 for its unmanned functions such as self-driving, obstacle detection/avoidance and surveillance. TRL 6 allows full-scale systems development to proceed.
