Belgians choose mature solution for Lynx replacements
The Belgian Armed Forces have taken a major step towards enhancing the mobility of its ground forces, after the MoD ordered 322 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) from Oshkosh Defense for €135 million ($158 million).
These vehicles will replace the in-service Iveco LMV Lynx. According to the Belgian MoD, initial deliveries are scheduled for 2023.
‘The [Ministry of] Defence sought a military off-the-shelf product to avoid unnecessary development costs,’ a spokesperson for the ministry explained.
JLTVs will be operated as command and liaison vehicles and will provide Belgian personnel with 'dramatically' better protection against mines, rockets and IEDs as well
