Nordic artillery drama continues
As the closure date for proposals for Norway’s new artillery programme draws near, Sweden has finally received the first of 24 new pieces.
After pulling out of plans to jointly procure 48 BAE Systems Bofors Archer 155mm self-propelled howitzer (SPH) with Sweden in 2013, Norway pursued its own project and submissions are due by late-October.
A spokesperson for the Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (NDLO) told Shephard that an invitation to tender was issued on 4 June and sent to Samsung/Hanwha, Kraus-Maffei Wegmann, Nexter and RUAG.
‘The deadline for submitting a proposal to the NDLO is the 23 of October 2015,’
