New UK facility for Scout AIT work
Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) of 489 of the 589 British Army’s new Scout SV reconnaissance vehicle will take place in the UK.
Whilst this is good news for UK jobs, all the vehicles will still be manufactured at General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) facility in Seville, Spain.
A spokesperson from General Dynamics UK (GDUK) told Shephard that AIT work will include fitting all of the vehicles’ equipment including ‘the turret (delivered by Lockheed Martin UK), its Electronic Architecture and other integral systems onto each platform.’
