New Russian Army group formed
A new Russian Army formation will be established in the country’s Southern Military District, close to the border with Ukraine.
Valery Gerasmiov, chief of the Russian General Staff announced the move, which will re-organise existing divisions under the new command and some will get new equipment.
The new formation will be called the 20th Guards Army with its headquarters in Voronezh. It will command the two of the three divisions, which are already deployed near the border with Ukraine.
They include 144th motorized rifle in the Bryansk region and the 10th armoured division in the Voronezh region.
