Netherlands to sell Leopard 2 MBTs to Finland
The Netherlands will sell 100 Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Leopard 2A6 main battle tanks (MBTs) to Finland, it has emerged.
Acknowledging reports circulating in the Finnish media that the Netherlands would sell surplus MBTs to Finland, Dutch defence minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert has indicated that such a deal will be formalised in January.
The Dutch MoD has previously tried to sell these tanks to Indonesia but was unsuccesful due to the amount of opposition in the Dutch parliament to such a scheme. Finland already operates some 100 Leopard 2A4s, which came from German army stocks.
